Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you register with an email address, we collect your username, email address, and a password (stored securely, hashed, by our authentication provider - we never see or store your password in plain text).

Discord. If you sign in with Discord, Discord shares your Discord user ID, username, email address and avatar with us, and we use your Discord email as your account email. If you sign in with Discord or link your Discord account from your account settings, we store your Discord user ID and username so our Discord bot can give you roles (for example, Sponsored or Premium) and send you messages about your account.

Server listings. If you submit a server, we store the details you provide: server name, IP address, description, banner image, screenshots, and any links (website, Discord, YouTube) you choose to add.

Server status. We regularly check each listed server to show whether it's online, and store its player counts, uptime history, version and server icon. This is information about the server, not about its players.

Votes and reviews. When you vote for or review a server, we store a hashed version of your IP address (used only to prevent duplicate voting and spam), along with the Minecraft username and any review text you submit.

Listing analytics. To show server owners how their listing is doing, we record views, clicks and IP copies on each listing, along with a random ID stored in your browser, your browser type and the page you came from. This is used to count visits and unique visitors; server owners only ever see totals, never individual visitors.

Payments. If you buy a Sponsored Slot or Premium, your payment is handled entirely by our payment provider (see section 5). We never see or store your card details - we keep a record of what you bought, when, for which server, and the payment provider's reference IDs for your payment and any subscription, so we can manage your purchase.

Scout programme. If you signed up through a scout's referral link or code, we record which scout referred you, so they can earn commission on your purchases for 12 months from your first one. If you're a scout, we keep your referral code, the name shown to referred users, your Discord details, and a record of the commission you've earned and been paid. Payouts are arranged privately with you in our Discord server; we don't store your payment details on the site.

Scout applications. If you apply to be a scout, your application (your Discord username, what you tell us, and any links) is sent to our staff's private Discord channel. It isn't stored on the site.

Free tools. Our tools (such as the MOTD generator or the share images) don't store what you type. Share images keep their settings in the link itself.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account, and to let you sign in.
• To display the servers, votes, and reviews you've submitted.
• To prevent abuse, such as duplicate voting, spam submissions or fraud.
• To process Sponsored Slot and Premium payments, and to run subscriptions.
• To send you emails and Discord messages about your account - for example, when your listing is approved or declined, when a Sponsored Slot or Premium is about to end, or a week before a 3 or 6-month Premium plan renews.
• To run the scout programme and pay scouts their commission.
• To show server owners analytics about their own listings.
• To respond to support requests or legal notices you send us.

Under UK data protection law, we rely on: providing the service you signed up for (your account, listings and purchases); our legitimate interests in keeping the site fair and secure and understanding how listings perform; and legal obligations, such as keeping payment records for tax.

3. What's public

Server listings are public, including their details, reviews and review names. Server pages show the Minecraft usernames of recent and top voters. When a server is approved, its listing may be posted in our public Discord server. Your email address is never shown publicly.

4. Who can see your information

Site administrators can see account details, including email addresses, when needed to run the site - for example, to contact a server owner, sort out a payment or deal with abuse. Our moderators review listings through our Discord server and see listing details, not your email address.

5. Third-party services we use

PeakMCList runs on a small number of third-party services, each of which processes some data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

• Supabase - our database, authentication, and file storage provider.
• Vercel - hosts the website, and provides anonymous page statistics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) that don't use cookies or identify you.
• Dodo Payments - sells Sponsored Slots and Premium to you as our merchant of record: it is the seller on your receipt, collects your billing details, charges you and handles tax, under its own privacy policy. It tells us your email address, your country and what you bought. We never see your card details.
• Discord - "Sign in with Discord", account linking, and our Discord bot.
• Cloudflare Turnstile - a privacy-friendly captcha we use on login, registration, voting and server submission to block automated bots.
• Resend - sends our emails, such as reminders and listing updates.

6. International transfers

Some of these providers store or process data outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where they do, they use the standard legal safeguards required by UK data protection law.

7. Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of browser storage, and no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies:

• Signing in - keeps you signed in between visits.
• Referral code - if you open a scout's referral link, we remember their code for 90 days so they're credited if you create an account.
• Analytics ID - the random ID described in section 1, used to count unique visitors to listings.
• Preferences - small things like remembering that you closed a banner.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and listing data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep records - for example, payment records for tax, and commission records for the scout programme. Detailed listing analytics and server status history are kept for a limited time and then deleted or reduced to totals.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to ask for a copy of your data. You can update most of your information yourself from your account settings, or contact us at contact@peakmclist.com for anything else, including account deletion requests.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first, so please contact us.

10. Children

PeakMCList is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
